Lord Vishnu incarnated in various Avatars to preserve the peace and dharma in the universe. In Satya yuga he incarnated as Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, and Narasimha; in Treta yuga, as Vamana, Parasuram, and Sri Rama, and in Dwapara yuga as Balarama, and Sri Krishna and in Kali yuga as Kalki avatar.

avatars

Treta means a "collection of three" and is called so because so far the fifth sixth and seventh avatars of Vishnu, were seen as Vamana, Parashurama and Rama, respectively. Since three avatars were born in Treta yuga, it was called A "collection of Three" or a group of three incarnations.

At every instance, whenever Lord Vishnu incarnated, the other deities also were born to support him in his incarnation. For example, when Vishnu incarnated as Lord Shri Rama, Lord Shiva, extended his support to him by incarnating as the chieftain of his Vanara army, the Mahabali Hanuman. Similarly, it is interesting to know who Shatrughna was, in Dwaparyuga and so on. Here is a list of deities who were born during both Dwapara and Treta yuga, as given in the site bhagavanbhakthi.com.
