A Tibetan story goes thus.

Geshe Ben, a great master of the 12th century was noted for his righteousness and integrity.

Once as the master was begging for alms, a family being devout Buddhists felt that it was a privilege to serve him. The master was hence invited to their home to partake of their offerings. The master's hunger saw no bounds when the family was busy engaged in preparing food. Hence to his utter astonishment the master found himself stealing food from a jar when the family was not aware of.

Geshe Ben suddenly started shouting loudly "Thief! Thief! I've caught you red handed"
The shocked host made a rush into the room to find him rebuking himself and threatening his hand of being cut if it ever behaved like that henceforth.
