The Majesty Of Calmness

Inner Calm, Taoist Story
A beautiful Taoist Tale by Chuang Tzu on where one's true strength lies.

The owner of a fighting rooster once took it to a trainer to make it more ferocious. After a few weeks he paid a visit to gauge the rooster's improvement. The rooster did not squawk loudly.

The trainer said that the rooster still had to be worked on.

Two weeks later the man returned back to find his rooster which could barely raise the feather on its neck and wings. He was again sent away by the trainer that the bird was not ready as yet.

A week later, the owner came back for his bird, only to find it more docile as a chick.

The owner became furious and shouted at the man saying that he had ruined his bird.

The trainer said, "Not at all. Look how he stands serenely strong. He is calm and secure and I am sure the other fighting birds would take to their heels with just a look at him!"
