Are You A Buddha?

Buddhahood, Zen Story
A pilgrim on his horse made arduous attempts, crossing mountains and swift running rivers in search of a noted man of wisdom, seeking his guidance for enlightenment. After a hard search for months, he located the teacher near a cave.

The pilgrim presented his question before the Master. The master listened to it, but did not utter a word. Hours rolled on and the seeker waited patiently. The master then turned to look at the steed on which the pilgrim had rode all the way. He finally broke the silence and asked the seeker why he was not looking for a horse instead of enlightenment. The seeker answered that he already had a horse. The master smiled and went into the cave. He said, " "Why don"t you search for a horse? Why do you bother about Buddhahood?"

The man now visibly impatient said, "What nonsense are you talking about? The horse is already with me. I have got the horse! Why should I seek it?"

The master in return smiled and simply went into his cave.
