The Veil Of Maya

By Staff

Ramayana, Maya
In the Ramayana, Rama and Lakshmana wanted to go to Lanka, but the great ocean spread itself in its vast expanse debarring them to cross over.

Lakshmana in his frustration drew his arrow to attack Varuna (The rain God). Rama then enlightened Lakshmana about the true nature of things in an eloquent explanation. He said that the ocean that spread itself before them was as unreal as the anger that sprang up in Lakshmana. It was equally unreal to destroy an unreal thing with another. It is but the veil of illusion cast, which looks like real.

All that ever exists in reality is the Brahman and only the Brahman.
