Buddhist Chanting
A woman practised reciting the name of Amitabha Buddha as "Namo Amitabha Buddha" thrice daily for about ten years. Though she was into this practice for a long time, her fiery temper remained and she took to shouting at people at the slightest provacation. She normally began her practice by lighting incense and ringing a small bell.

A friend who was aware of her anger decided to put an end to it. One day as she started reciting, the friend came to her door and cried out her name. The woman as usual got annoyed but decided to control her anger. She tried to pursue with her chanting. But the man persistently called out her name. The woman for a moment thought that she should give up her recitation and give him a piece of her mind. However she contained her anger and carried on with her practice.

On finding the man still calling out her name, she then letting loose the gripped reins of anger, jumped up, slammed the door and went to the gate and yelled, "Why do you behave like this? I am engaged in my recitation and you are calling out my name over and over again.

The gentleman smiled at her and said "I just called out your name for ten minutes and you are angry. You have been calling out Amitabha Buddha's name for more then ten years. Just imagine how angry He would be?"
