The Vishnu Shodasa Nama Stotram or the 16 names of Lord Vishnu is a prayer to call upon Lord Vishnu with different names during different times for different purposes. Of the Hindu trinity or the Trimurtis, Lord Vishnu is the sustainer of the universe.

As Janardhana while taking food,
As Padmanabha when in bed,

As Trivikrama while travelling,
As Narayana when on death bed,
As Sreedhara when in the company of the beloved,
As Govinda when troubled by a nightmare,
As Madhu Sudhana when faced with danger,
As Narasimha when in the forest,
As Jala Sayina when there is a fire breakout,
