While this looks like a step in the right direction for women ahead of International Women's Day, let us know about the benefits of solo travelling for women.
Solo travel is a growing trend and it allows one to experience freedom, be flexible, understand self-empowerment, explore new opportunities, make social interactions and more.
It is increasingly recognised by researchers that tourism experiences incorporate more than just physical travel to a place, as they can also involve spiritual elements, psychological and physical benefits, altruism, self-development, and life-change,' mentions a journal.
1. Explore Yourself More
Busy urban life that comes with perks of stress and anxiety can take a toll on your overall well-being. Therefore, it becomes essential to break the monotonous routine and embrace yourself more. Travelling solo is basically a self-discovery journey and you will learn about things that make you comfortable about yourself and things that you are not comfortable with. You can also process your bottled-up feelings during this time along with visiting some incredible places.
2. Making Independent Decisions
If you are travelling solo, it is easier to make decisions because they will be honest and yours. You won't have to bother about how it may affect the other person. Be it getting meals, skipping visiting a place or overspending on clothes, all decisions are yours and will be completely based on your instincts. You can either opt for cheaper accommodation or go for a luxury villa, and it will be solely your choice. All you need to do is trust your gut.
3. It Is Cost-Effective
For single people or solo travellers, the trip can be cost-effective. You can set a budget and decide what you want to do with it, how and what to spend it on. You can either grab a snack and a few bottles of juice, look for cheaper accommodation, choose a cheap mode of transportation or skip the places that are too touristy.
4. Engage With New People
A particular benefit of being in charge of making decisions while travelling is that you can do exactly what you feel like on any given day or time. When you're travelling as part of a group or with a family, everyone's needs and desires have to be taken into account, which can often lead to a lot of compromises. Travelling solo is your chance to be in charge, meaning that you can eat at the exact restaurant you want to, wake up as early or late as you like, or even decide to spend a day by the pool if you're feeling tired.
5. Focus On Self-Care
A journey or travel that includes only you will help you to understand the things you want and things you truly need in your life. You can opt for things you have always wanted to do and discard things you are not fond of. You can choose a company of your choice if you want, get a spa, good food, or a beautiful say. Most importantly, it will teach you the value of your own company.
6. Improves Your Overall Well-being
When it is you against the world then why not focus more on self-well-being? Research has pointed out that travelling alone or being in your own company has mental health benefits. It is so because it not only gets your endorphins flowing but relieves you from stress and depression, making you a happier person.
7. You Can Learn About New Cultures, and Languages
While coming across new people, cultures and languages can be overwhelming, it will also broaden your horizon in terms of knowledge and experience. Even though chatting with a stranger where language is a barrier can be difficult, once you start doing it, you may realize it is not that terrifying at all. Who knows you may even like that culture, learn a recipe or pick up some words to use it in your conversations.
