Inter Religious Marriages In A Secular Nation

By Staff

Religion has always remained as a threat for love marriages in most parts of India. Despite being a secular nation, many could not digest the idea of getting married outside their customs and norms. However the situation seems to change now.

An increasing number of Hindus and Muslims are willing to exchange wedding vows with those outside their faiths. While the highest rate of intercast marriages are found among Christians, Hindus and then Muslims also come in the line. Many people don"t associate themselves with any religion at all.

The above new situation doesn"t indicate the absence of religion. It just indicates the disappearance of religion from everyday use. Smaller religious communities show the higher tendencies for intercast marriages.
