Love changes over time in many ways. Love as an emotion is not stagnant. It is dynamic like the Universe around us. With time, there are changes in relationship and also in the 'love' that exists between couples. With the different stages of a relationship, love changes over time. So if you are in a long term relationship, you will see all these changes in the feeling of 'love'.
Sometimes love changes over time because it is necessary for a particular stage in your relationship. At other times, couples fall apart because they are not able to deal with the changes in their relationship. But the fact remains that love changes over time and nothing can stem this flow of change.
Here are some common changes that you feel in your love for sometime as time passes by.
Puppy Love
Initially, love is more like passion laced with lust. There is a very physical aspect to the love and passion that you feel for your partner. This is very often the very first stage of love when you have just met and everything is still very fresh.
Security
Love changes over time and the novelty wears off. After passion, we look for security in a relationship. Love that makes you secure is the second stage of a relationship. Every relationship has to go through this phase.
Commitment
Commitment is a chapter that is very important in a relationship. This is when a couple in love take the important decision to spend the rest of their lives with each other.
Consciousness
After commitment, love changes over time into your consciousness. For example, a couple who have been married for more than 10 years do not have a special consciousness of being in love. 'Love' is like a habit or rather second nature for them.
Respect
Beyond physical and emotional love is the emotion of respect. When a couple can feel respect for each other, the cycle of their love is complete.
Love changes over time continuously. Sometimes 'love' adapts to the changes in our relationships and at other times, we have to adjust with the changing shades of our 'love'.
