Why People Choose To Be Promiscuous?

First of all, being promiscuous is not the same as cheating . If you are not committed to a particular person, then you can choose to sleep around with many people. It still cannot be considered cheating because you are technically, not 'cheating' anybody. It is all clear and out in the open that you are living a promiscuous life.

Many youngsters these days state promiscuity as their lifestyle choice. They want to be single and sleep around with whoever catches their fancy. It is the same 'friends with benefits' concept. While you may not agree with this kind of lifestyle, it is true that being promiscuous has its advantages and disadvantages.

Here are some reasons for which people choose to be promiscuous instead of sticking to stable relationships.

It is too much hard work: You do not get stable relationships on a platter. You have to work at making your relationships stronger. You need to put in time and effort to understand your partner. Many youngsters these days do not have that much patience.

Fear of heart break: When you are with one person for a long time, you are bound to become attached to that person. Even if you do not believe in the concept of 'true' love in this day and age, the bond that you develop cannot be denied. Many people fear this bond of love because it might give them a lot of pain when the relationship ends.

Fear of rejection: There are many men and women who fear rejection over anything else. They are scared that their partners might reject them. Thus, they dump their respective boyfriends and girlfriends. They do this so that they do not get dumped by their partners. Not being able to handle rejection is not a very healthy sign. It means you have very low self esteem.

Searching for the perfect someone: Some people sleep around just for fun, but not all do so. Some people are looking for real love. But they are not sure how their Mr Right or Miss Right should be. So, they experiment with partners and try to search for the idyllic love that they dream for.

No strings attached: There are also people who fear that they will not be able to be faithful to their partner and end up breaking their hearts. They are not sure of themselves and thus do not want to get tied up in serious relationships. They also do not want the blame for cheating so they tag the 'no strings attached' line.

Being promiscuous is not a very healthy choice of lifestyle but it is a choice nonetheless. Do you think that it is better to be openly promiscuous than break somebody's heart?
