Are You Still Daddy's Little Girl?

By Sheetal Tewari

When you were little, you surely were daddy's little girl. Don't you still remember those rides you took on his shoulders? All those times you watched the proceedings perched high up on his shoulders; he was your best ride. And those school projects that daddy worked so hard to complete for you; didn't they get you ‘A' grades in class?
Those special dishes that daddy would prepare only on your demand, don't you still have a little after taste lingering in some corner of your heart? You surely were daddy's little girl.

You have grown older and daddy isn't the same energetic young man any more, but don't you still feel like a little princess when he is around. Father daughter relationships don't change with time; your father's love for you is frozen in time. 18, 28 or 42, you were and will always be daddy's little girl.

Daddy's Girl
  • You call him whenever you are low and end up telling the whole story to him. This is after you decided that you are not going to tell anything to him because you don't want to stress him out.
  • Your landlord raises rent and you call up daddy to ask whether the place is worth paying more or should you consider changing it.
  • You call him up much before your planned visit and tell him your wish list for the days you are going to be with him. Every time you call him after that, you add something new to the list.
  • You hate office politics and the day you hate it the most you call your dad and crib for hours. You crib about everyone you don't like and everything that needs to change. You know well he can't domuch, but you have to tell.
  • You tell him how insanely beautiful your best friends' dress at the wedding was and make him promise he would buy you a more expensive one for your special day.
  • You are married and your husband is sick of listening to how he can never be the understanding and sensitive man that your dad was. Whatever he does, whatever he says, he will be measured against the invincible benchmark of your dad
  • You are stuck in traffic and the first person you call is your father. You know it well that he is not in the city but he is a part of your habit, he must know you are stuck.
  • You win the best employee award at office and he is the first person you call up. You tell him how hard you worked for the award and make him promise he will buy you a nice gift for your achievement.
  • With your first salary you want to buy the whole world for him and you mean it from the bottom of your heart.

Father daughter relationships are just so beautiful. Sometimes, when you are grown up, it is good to know that you can always be daddy's little girl.
