- 1/4 tsp asafoetida
- 1-2 green chilies, chopped
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 1 small onion (optional)
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
Garnish
- 2 tbsp cilantro
- 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
How To Prepare
- Cook dal, mango, turmeric, and tomato in a pressure cooker (3-4 whistles) or simmer 25-30 mins until soft.
- Mash lightly. Adjust salt and water for desired consistency.
- In a pan, heat ghee/oil. Add mustard, cumin, red chilies, asafoetida, curry leaves, onion, and ginger. Sauté till golden.
- Add red chili powder, mix, and pour over dal.
- Simmer dal for 5 mins to let flavors blend. Garnish and serve hot with rice or roti.
