Double The Joy: US Couple Welcome Twins On Exact Day of Their Birthday

In what you can call a remarkable twist of fate, a US couple, Scierra Blair and José Ervin from Ohio, both born on 18 August, received an extraordinary birthday gift this year.

Just over a week ago, they welcomed twins - a son and a daughter - at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, both arriving just five minutes after midnight on their shared birthday -18 August!!

"It's a blessing," the new dad said, according to reports. "Best birthday present ever."

The birth of Scierra Blair and José Ervin's twins is fascinating because it is extremely rare for a baby to share a birthday with both parents - one in every 133,000 births, according to a report by Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children.

Due to the high rate of twin deliveries, approximately 31 out of 1,000 successful births, the odds of this happening are similar to winning the lottery, so for this couple, it's like they hit the jackpot twice.

Well, the extraordinary occurrence is not completely coincidental. Ervin had to persuade his fiancee to endure a few hours of extra discomfort to deliver on time.

It was originally expected that the babies would be delivered on 28 Aug. However, when the couple went to the doctor for a checkup on 17 August, doctors discovered that one of the babies was positioned feet-down in the womb - and recommended a cesarean section that day to prevent complications.

"Since she was in good health and wasn't stressed, and the kids were in good health and weren't stressed, I thought, 'Why not wait?'" the dad said.

Approximately one minute after the calendar turned to 18 August, doctors delivered José Ervin III. Ar'ria Lannette Ervin was born a minute later.

"They were my birthday present and I'm good with that," the new dad gushed about his babies. "I'm so stoked. I kiss them like 30,000 times a day."

The heartwarming story of Scierra Blair and José Ervin, who celebrated their own 18 August birthdays by bringing their twins into the world on the very same day is a warm reminder of life's amazing coincidences!

What Happens When A Baby Is Positioned Feet-down In The Womb?

When a baby is positioned feet-down in the womb, it is referred to as a "breech" presentation. Most babies are typically positioned head-down, which is known as the "cephalic" presentation. Breech presentation occurs in about 3-4% of pregnancies [1].

There are different types of breech presentations, such as Frank Breech, Complete Breech and Footling Breech.

Breech presentation can impact the delivery and pose certain challenges during childbirth. In many cases, breech presentation increases the chances of a cesarean section (C-section) delivery.
