How can you keep your crawling, climbing, running, messing little stay hydrated in these hot summer days? If your toddler is sick, then the condition will be more difficult. You have many choices around you to keep your toddler hydrated. You can opt for water, fruit juices, decaffeinated tea, milk, fruits and soups. But, the difficult thing is to find out what will work for your little one. The taste choice of each toddler differs and they will co-operate with you in drinking what you offer only if they like it.
The amount of water your toddler has to take daily depends on their age, weight and activity. Most experts suggest that toddlers need as many as four or five cups of fluid a day. It’s summer and you have to watch for dehydration signs in your toddler. They include less urination, less active, sleeplessness, dry skin and lips, fussiness and irritation.
In the present scenario, when parents are working leaving their toddler with a caretaker, the risks are more as you are not sure whether your little one is drinking enough water. If you are not winning to make your toddler drinking water, here are some easy tips that will help you to keep your toddler hydrated.
Keep it easily accessible: It is a good idea to keep some water in bottles with straw in easily accessible places. This will help your toddler to drink water when he actually needs it. Apart from these, most toddlers love experimenting when they are not forced to do anything.

Yogurt: If you are not able to make your toddler drink water, try giving them yogurt. Most toddlers love the taste of yogurt. You can try plain or flavoured yogurt. Giving lassi is also another option to prevent toddler dehydration.
Fruits: If your toddler is not interested in sipping water or other fluids, the next best idea is to give them water rich fruits and vegetables. Watermelon is an excellent choice to prevent toddler dehydration. This will give you an added benefit of proper bowel movements because of the high fibre content in it.
Change the flavour: It is not compulsory that you have to give water only to prevent toddler dehydration. You can try changing the fluids and this will keep your toddler interested. Give them milk, fruit extracts, lime juice or coconut water.
