Spanking Your Toddler. Does It Help?
Parenting is the most challenging job known, especially when it comes to disciplining your child. You may not have any trouble in agreeing to this statement, but your opinion about how to do this job perfectly may differ. Are you one among those parents who believe that spanking will help your child come out disciplined? Then, you are wrong!
A study published in Pediatrics, researchers at Tulane University strongly suggest that the effects of spanking children may contribute to many behavioural problems in the long run. In the study, those who were spanked more frequently at age 3 were much more likely to be aggressive by age 5.
BAD HABITS CAN BE STOPPED, WITH TODDLERS!
So, do you want to spoil your child by punishing them by spanking, only because they are smaller and less powerful than you? Since, children have less reasoning capacity and short memory; they may not be able to link your action with their deed. Go through these effects of hitting your child, which may help you for a rethinking.
Become
aggressive:
Physical
punishments
like
hitting
will
only
make
your
children
more
aggressive
in
their
behaviour.
Unless
you
take
an
effort
to
make
them
understand
the
wrong
side
of
what
they
did,
chances
are
more
that
they
will
repeat
it
later
also.
This
time
they
may
do
it
secretly
fearing
your
response.
Less problem solving ability: Studies have proved that spanking your toddlers will affect their problem solving ability. When your child finds that you are not using any creative and effective ways to solve any problem, they will also uncover that physical or mental hurt is the fastest possible solution for a problem.
Less
compassion:
As
a
social
being,
we
are
supposed
to
live
with
compassion.
But,
one
of
the
long-term
effects
of
hitting
your
child
is
an
ultimate
loss
of
this
feeling.
When
they
face
any
problems
in
their
life,
the
priority
response
will
be
to
opt
for
any
shortcut,
most
probably
in
the
path
of
violence.
You
don"t
have
any
voice!
You
trained
them
the
same.
Weak
family
bonds:
Effects
of
spanking
your
child
may
affect
your
family
relationships.
If
you
can"t
tolerate
getting
physically
hurt,
it
is
the
same
with
your
child
as
well.
Your
child
may
loss
their
freedom
to
consider
you
as
a
good
ear
to
share
all
and
everything.
Teaches them to lie: Physical punishments may hurt your child only for the moment when you spank them. But, the long-lasting mental scar will force them to repeat the same mistake in your absence. The only solution for this is to make your child understand what is good and what is bad.
