Shatavari: A Boon for Women Trying to Conceive
In Ayurveda, Shatavari is used to treat infertility in both men and women. It is a great rejuvenative herb and has been used as a tonic for a long period of time. It is used to treat vata and pitta doshas.
It is commonly consumed in the form of capsules or powder. The correct dosage should be taken only after consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Shatavari contains steroidal saponins, which have been proved to regulate oestrogen levels. Correct oestrogen levels in the body result in regular menstrual cycles and ovulation. This in turn increases the chances of fertility.
Stress leads to infertility. Stress can cause late ovulation or no ovulation at all. Stressed out women suffer from uterine fibroids, blocked fallopian tubes, ovarian cysts, endometriosis and hypothyroidism.

Shatavari helps in the production of white blood cells which help the body to fight against these abnormalities. It also flushes out toxins from the body and helps it to remain free from stress.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a disease that causes hormonal imbalances in women. It also affects ovulation. Shatavari improves follicular maturity, regularizes menstrual cycles, restores hormonal balances and improves the chances of fertility.

Shatavari helps in the secretion of cervical mucus. During ovulation, when the level of oestrogen is at its highest, the cervix secretes a type of mucous known as cervical mucous. This mucous helps the sperm to glide through the female reproductive tract and meet the egg.
Shatavari contains mucilage that serves as a tonic for the mucous membranes. It protects the mucous membranes and helps it to secrete mucous to enable fertilization.
