10 Ways To Speed Up Labour Pain
If you are expecting your birthing process to be like the ones you see in movies, then you are in for a massive shock. If you really want to know how long labour lasts, then you will be horrified. A normal labour lasts for 6 to 12 hours. If it is your first birth, it might go on to 24 hours! However, before you rule out natural birth, there are ways to speed up the labour process. You can try out these ways to speed up birth if you want to wrap up labour pain quickly.
There are 4 main stages of labour. Latent or dormant labour can last for days before you give birth. Then comes the stage when the the contractions are regular. Active labour starts when you have strong contractions in quick succession. Now, you can speed up the labour from the second stage so that you have active labour for lesser number of hours.
There are some natural ways to speed up the process of giving birth. But even safe medical processes can be used as ways to speed up labour. There are hardly any side effects of these processes. You can try these ways to speed up the birthing process or discuss your options with your health care provider.

Walking
When you stand up and walk around, your body gets the benefit of the gravitation pull that will help your baby to descend. This helps to speed up the contractions and downward movement of the baby.

Empty Bladder
If you have a full bladder, then slows down the movement of your baby. Take frequent trips to the toilet to empty your bladder so that your baby gets enough room to move downwards.

Water Birth
Ask your health care provider if there is a birthing pool available for you. Getting into a warm birthing pool can speed up contractions significantly.

Dilation Gel
If your labour is slow because your cervix is not dilating enough, then you need to get some dilation gel inserted into your vagina. It helps to speed up dilation.

Artificially Bursting Water
Sometimes, you may be in labour for hours before your water bursts. Sometimes, bursting the water artificially with a pincher helps to speed up a slow-progressing labour.

Lunges
If you baby is not in the right birthing position, then you should do side lunges or hold a rod and do sit ups. This helps the baby to turn and the birthing process gets a boost.

Induced Labour
Getting shots of the oxytocin hormone is the last resort for a non-progressive labour. This injection artificially introduces the oxytocin hormone into your blood stream.

Pressure Points
If you get pressed at certain pressure points on your body, you will get relief from labour pain and also have faster contractions.

Intimate Time With Partner
It is impossible to have sex just before giving birth. But enjoying some alone time with your partner can help speed up labour. Some hot and steamy make out can release the oxytocin hormones you need.

Squats
Use a birthing ball to do squats and pelvic floor exercises. This help the contractions to be regular and strong. It also ushers your baby into the birth canal.
