Bacterial Vaginosis
This is a very common infection for a women during her childbearing age; this is caused by the imbalance of the bacteria that is alive in your vagina. This is one of the infections that can harm foetus, by giving you an increased risk of preterm labour and low birth weight baby. Studies have shown a relationship between this infection and miscarriage.

Chicken Pox
Take the chicken pox vaccine if you have not got it before as a part of pregnancy healthcare. But if you get the chicken pox during your first and second trimester, there is a risk that your baby might develop congenital varicella syndrome. This can lead to birth defects, malformed limbs and vision problems.

Parvovirus B19
This is also referred to as the fifth disease and is one of the infections that harm foetus. This is a virus that inhibits the production of the red blood cells. When you get this infection during your pregnancy, there is a small chance that you could lose your baby. But most of the time, your baby shouldn’t have a problem.

Flu
This is one of the most common concerns when it comes to pregnancy health care. If is always safe to take a flu shot to avoid any further complications. Pneumonia is a serious concern. It is life threatening and can lead to preterm labour. If you are immune, your baby is also less likely to be exposed to the flu.

Herpes
Genital Herpes is one of the infections that harm foetus; there are chances that you can transmit it to the baby during your delivery. Though herpes for a newborn is very rare, the risk of transmission is high if you are getting herpes for the first time late in your pregnancy. In rare cases, mother can transmit herpes through the placenta during the first trimester.

Washing your hands regularly, not sharing glasses or utensils or staying away from someone who has contagious diseases are things that fall under pregnancy health care.
