Right Sleep Positions During Pregnancy
The correct sleep positions are very important for you to get sound sleep. If you sleep in a haphazard way, you are not following proper sleep hygiene. When you are pregnant, at least 8 hours of good restful sleep is very important. You carrying the extra weight of the baby within you and need to give your body some rest. However, sleep positions during pregnancy are also vitally important.
Most women are confused about the right sleep position during pregnancy. We all have our preferred sleeping positions. Some of us are comfortable sleeping on our back. Other prefer to sleep on their side. There are also some people whop sleep on their stomach.

So which of these is the right sleeping position during pregnancy? Here are some tips to guide you to choose the right sleeping position for yourself.
Sleeping On Left Side: Most medical experts agree that sleeping on your left side is the best way to sleep during pregnancy. This sleeping position increases the blood flow to the baby. That is why, even your unborn baby can sleep comfortably. If your stomach hurts or feels too tight, this is the best way to lie down and rest. Moreover, sleeping on your left side allows the kidneys to expel the waste products of the body quickly.
Sleeping On Your Stomach: You must be afraid to sleep on your stomach during your pregnancy for obvious reasons. However, during your first trimester of pregnancy, sleeping on your stomach is not such a bad idea. Your uterus is still protected behind your pelvic bone and thus, your baby will not be harmed if you sleep on your stomach. However, as your pregnancy advances, your growing belly will make it physically impossible to sleep on your stomach.
Sleeping On Your Back: Although sleeping on your back seems like an safe option during pregnancy, it is not so. You can try this sleep position in the early stages of your pregnancy. However, as the weight of your belly increases, sleeping on your back puts pressure on your backbone. This can cause severe backache. In the third trimester of pregnancy, the baby might even move upwards putting pressure on your diaphragm. It can make you breathless in some cases. Avoid sleeping on your back in the later stages of pregnancy especially if you have breathing problems or acidity.
