Strenuous and tiring household chores will have certain direct or indirect impact not only on your pregnancy, but also on the health of your baby. In certain medical conditions like preterm labour signs, or placenta previa, you should take more care and caution while trying to do any hard household chores.

It may sound strange, but it is a fact that pregnant women should stay away changing the litter box. This will make you at high risk of getting exposed to toxoplasmosis, a parasitic infection transmitted through cat faeces. This is harmful for your baby as well.

Using strong chemicals
Pregnant women should take care not to use harsh chemicals at any stage of pregnancy. Exposure to strong chemicals are actually harmful to you and your unborn baby. Bathroom cleaners, kitchen cleaners and paint are the common household chemicals that you have to avoid during pregnancy.

Using pesticides
Since it is your duty to keep your baby safe, it is always better to be cautious than trying for a cure. Avoid using any kind of insect repellents or pesticides. Do not use ant, mosquito or cockroach spray inside your house.

Refinishing furniture
Another household chore that pregnant women should avoid is refinishing furniture. Products that are used for refinishing furniture contain chemicals that are dangerous for your unborn baby.

Cleaning ceiling fans
It is better not to take a chance to clean your ceiling fan or to hang a curtain. These tasks require climbing and this chore will become more risky as your belly grows. Since pregnant women experience a change in their centre of gravity due to their belly, chances of a fall is more.

Mopping
Mopping is another household chore that pregnant women should avoid. Mopping may intensify sciatica, a painful inflammation of the sciatic nerve. All chores, including mopping that necessitate you to bend forward can worsen the condition.
