Taking care of yourself at the same time of your baby is as important as getting pregnant. Doctors say that a pregnant woman should be extremely cautious during her first trimester of pregnancy. There are certain Dos and Don'ts that a to – be new mom should follow.

No To Smoking : If you have the habit of smoking you should say, a complete 'NO' to it. Smoking can lead to miscarriage and premature birth. It can also have negative effects on your unborn child's health, even passive smoking should not be entertained during this period.

No To Activities That Can Hurt Your Abdomen : During this period you have to be extra cautious. You should not indulge yourself in fun activities that include a trip to some amusement park or water theme park. Because a sudden start or stop or even a powerful landing can hurt your abdomen, and in turn your baby. Also say no to cycling.

No To Sports And Riding
: There are certain sports like, basketball, hockey, soccer, gymnastics etc to be avoided during the first trimester. Also riding is one thing that you should not indulge at all, because these can lead to your abdominal stress. Follow the exercises schedule suggested by your doctor.

No To Heavy Lifting : Lifting heavy things is a must 'NO' during your first trimester as well as throughout pregnancy. Also you should not use electric blankets, as the electro - magnetic radiation generated from this can harm your baby.

No To Heat : You should avoid things like having steam bath, whirl pool bath,saunas etc as these can raise your temperature that is really harmful for the foetus. Also say no to food items that can increase heat in your body. For example : pineapple, papaya, jack fruit etc.

Include some general but very important tips into your life style during this period.

  • Avoid activities that can put you into the stage of falling.
  • Make sure that you involve yourself in leisure activities. This will keep you as well as your baby stress free.
  • When ever you get a chance to rest, take proper rest. Include many sleeps in your schedule. Proper resting will grant you mental as well as physical well-being.
