What Not To Eat After A Delivery
Giving birth is a physically exhausting time for the mother. But the good news is that you can finally hold your bundle of joy in your arms. Now you will start to worry about your capabilities to be a good mom. You will have doubts about everything, especially concerning your diet. Do not worry about all this; know that countless women have faced and conquered these baby blues.
During your pregnancy, you were probably bombarded from all directions on the stuff you should not eat for fear of harming the baby. Well, now is the time to relax and let many of your favourite snacks back into the menu. But are there any kinds of foods to avoid after delivery?
The baby still depends on you for nutrition and as long as you are breastfeeding you must be careful about the kind of food that you eat. If your diet is not healthy, chances are more for your baby to get an allergic reaction, colic or other disorders through breast milk. So if you're wondering what not to eat after your delivery, you've come to the right place.

Spicy foods
Those Mexican hot peppers or other such spicy foods are among foods not eat after delivery. Remember, the baby is completely dependent on you for food and the type of food you eat will reflect in the milk he/she drinks.

Fatty meat
Fatty meats are among the foods to avoid after delivery. This is mainly in view of the mother trying to shed some of the pounds gained during pregnancy. Also, fat-rich foods will give a little more strain to your digestive system.

Fried food
Fried foods should not be taken after delivery. They tend to increase body fat. You do not need to fatten up your body, in fact you should lose some weight gained during pregnancy and fries are no help at all.

Soft drinks
Soft drinks tend to produce gas in your stomach and may cause digestion problems to you and through you, to the baby also. Soft drinks are among the foods to avoid after delivery.

Caffeine
Coffee is one among the foods to avoid after delivery. Here also restriction is advised. If either you or the baby has difficulty in falling asleep, it is recommended to completely abstain from caffeine till the baby has moved on to solid foods.

Alcohol
Strictly avoid alcohol after delivery. You might have been strict in following clean habits while you were pregnant. Remember to continue the same even after your delivery to provide healthy milk to your baby.

Milk
This may sound a strange food to be on the list of foods to avoid after delivery. This need not apply to all women and their babies. But some babies come down with colic due to the milk and other dairy products eaten by their mothers. Hence some mothers will have to avoid this food after delivery.

Mercury containing fish
You would have been advised to avoid seafood high in mercury content during your pregnancy. That still applies if you are breastfeeding your baby. This is one food to not eat after delivery.

Unpasteurized soft cheese
Pass up on unpasteurized soft cheese while you are breastfeeding your baby. In fact, it would be better to not eat any unpasteurized dairy products after a delivery.
