Breastfeeding: Side Effects & Difficulties
Breastfeeding is supposed to be a great thing for a new mother, but there are some so called 'modern' day mums who do not like to opt for breastfeeding. The only reason why some mums choose to avoid breastfeeding is because of certain effects which tag along. These side effects of breastfeeding often get embarrassing for the woman, which is why some mums do not like the idea of breastfeeding.
However, according to experts, breastfeeding is a must for a new mother, since it will help to protect the mother from breast cancer and help get rid of the post pregnancy weight too. On one hand, when a new mother breastfeeds her newborn, she is feeding her baby with a lot of proteins, energy and nourishment.
BREASTFEEDING? : Vital Vitamins For You
Despite the many side effects and difficulties of breastfeeding, all mothers would agree that it is a highly rewarding experience. From sleepless long nights to embarrassing leaking moments, here are some of the breastfeeding difficulties and side effects that new moms should be aware of:

Leaking Moments
This is one of the main side effects of breastfeeding that mums face. Lactating in public can often get a little embarrassing.

Weening Babies
Weening babies is indeed a difficulty that all mums face. Weaning your baby can get just as tormenting as getting them to latch on at the time of feeding.

Sleep Deprived
This is something that all new mothers complain about. Lack of sleep can indeed add a lot of stress to your life.

Bites
Another common side effect of breastfeeding is the little bites they experience during feeding.

Work v/s Baby
Work versus baby is one of the main things modern new moms cannot manage and when it comes to breastfeeding it is all the more worse. Pumping milk and feeding the child simultaneously is a great challenge for some mums.

Milk Production
At times there is a shortage of milk production. Pumping milk from the breast becomes a little more tense and painful. Lack of milk for your baby can be quite stressful on you, but there's no need to worry. The mother only needs to consult her doctor for natural ways to increase milk production.

Physical Pain
Physical pain is a yet another side effect and difficulty for new mothers brought on by breastfeeding. It is a common problem when the breast gets hard at the time of breastfeeding causing immense pain to the new mother.

Public Issues
You are outside and your newborn begins to cry demanding that you feed him or her. This becomes a problem, if you are not in an enclosed place at that given moment to feed the baby.

Changing Positions
When the production of milk is at rest in one side, changing the baby to the other breast becomes an issue. Most newborns do not like to be disturbed from their comfort zone. But most babies make their peace with it once they get their milk supply back.

Nipple Problems
If you have an inverted or flat nipple, it becomes all the more painful for the new mother. In this case, breastfeeding becomes a little more painful thus adding to the extra problems. Consult your doctor on how you can ease the pain and feed your baby comfortably.
