How To Treat Tonsils In Children
Tonsils are the lumps of tissue that are located at the back of the throat. When the tonsils get inflamed it can be a very troublesome condition for the children to bear this and this condition is called tonsillitis.
When tonsils come in contact with any germs, they tend to swell. This leads to inflammation. This inflammatory condition known as tonsillitis can cause difficulties in swallowing, speaking, etc, when found in children.
There are two types of tonsillitis namely chronic tonsillitis and recurrent tonsillitis. The former type can last for about 3 months, whereas the latter type can cause difficulties for several times in a year.
Tonsillitis can be caused by the bacteria known as Streptococcus. Since tonsils are the first line of defense against virus and bacteria, they tend to get infected easily.
Some of the symptoms of tonsillitis include runny nose, fever, difficulty in swallowing, stomach pain, stiff neck muscles and pain in the ear. Tonsils can also be treated at home effectively.

Mint: Mint is one of the most popular remedies that is used to treat tonsillitis. The menthol in mint soothes the membrane of the throat. Drink mint tea several times in a day to reduce the pain in the tonsils. Children can be made to munch on a few mint leaves.
Cinnamon: Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties that help get rid of the tonsils pain effectively. It prevents bacteria and other microorganisms and also reduces inflammation. Mix cinnamon and honey in a glass of warm water and make your child drink this solution for relief.
Basil: Basil has anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties that help heal the tonsils faster. Basil also acts as a pain reliever. Add a few leaves of basil to a cup of water. Boil the water for 10 minutes and strain it. Add lemon juice and honey and give this to your kid to drink thrice in a day.

Turmeric: Turmeric has various medicinal properties. It has antiseptic properties that work great in treating tonsillitis. Mix a teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of warm water. Gargling with this solution can give an instant relief to your child.

Lemon Juice: Lemon juice has antiviral and antibacterial properties that work excellent in fighting the pain related to tonsillitis. The high vitamin C content in lemon boosts the immune system. Add lemon juice and honey to a glass of warm. Drinking this solution twice in a day can subside the tonsil pain in children.
