Best Books For Kids As Per Age- Part I
As parents we want to encourage good reading habits in children. Several of us as educated parents have grown up with limited access to English books outside our school curriculum and seldom remember books from our toddler and young adult ages.
Children literature has received a lot of attention in the 21st century and several books have been published to cater children right from the age of toddlers. Reading not only builds knowledge, vocabulary, fluency but can bring joy at times of utter boredom or melancholy.
As a parent, I am constantly on the lookout for books that my children will find interesting. Every parent has to model regular reading at home to encourage reading and build a family of readers. Several books that my children loved seemed very silly and unimportant to me, but the love they had/ still have for these books have made me treasure these priceless items for generations to come.
Many good books have come my way, even when my children were no longer in the age that they would have loved them. But these have always remained in my list of books that I could suggest to others. I would love to recommend books that we read and enjoyed, and hopefully other parents may find some of these books to help their children to be lifelong readers.
8 Months - 12 Months

During this growing period, they seem fascinated by colors. Taking them on walks and teaching them to talk pointing to objects really interests them. The Baby Einstein DVDs have a lot of color and music that seems to captivate them. I introduced several cloth books during this phase and they loved to touch and turn the pages.

During this phase they love familiar books. They love to touch and feel things and arrange items, so flash cards, blocks can hold their attention for a long time. They can easily be taught to play a game around two years and might surprise you by playing Memory.
