Ways To Discipline Your Child

1.Jot Down Rules – It is very important that your child knows the do's and don'ts of the house. Thus, jot down the disciplinary rules and make him understand the importance of the rules and how will it help him. He might not agree to some of your disciplinary guidelines but you need to persuade him with reasons.
2.Incentives – Keep incentives for good behaviour. This will encourage the child to follow all the disciplinary measures. Incentives should not be made into a habit. Otherwise, it will be a condition for his good behaviour. Incentives should be kept as an option. He should work towards it very hard. His will make the whole things of teaching discipline to your child a fun thing.
3.Controlled Criticism – Criticism has to be there, but should not be a regular process. For a child to be told that he is worst than his friend is a big insult and hurts his self respect, thus, criticism should never be comparison. Criticism should be comparison to himself. It should come sometimes. So, that it retains its importance.
4.Punishment – Punishment is needed at times, when he is just not ready to understand. If incentives is a way to discipline your child, then fear of punishment will make him follow the rule which he does not agree to. Like coming home on time, or control anger etc. Punishment should build the fear but don't over do it. Very harsh punishments can put him under a shock.
5.Never Beat Your Child – Most of the parents have the tendency of beat their child for almost every indiscipline they do. The beating after sometime stop affecting their inner self. They get used to it and it does not matter to them any more. Constant beating can also put them into excessive stress and be the reason for inbuilt violence.
To teach discipline to your child is important for his secured future and to event him from taking up the wrong behavior. Teaching discipline to your child should be the process which is introduced from an early age. If you have been lenient at the beginning and suddenly start discipline it will be very difficult as your child is not used to it.
