Too Much TV Can Be Harmful For Kids!

Kids watching Tv
Infants, toddlers and pre-school goers who stay at home spend more time in front of the television as compared to those who are in the day care centres. On an average, kids at home watch TV for 2.4 hours per day while those in the crèche spend only 0.4 hours a day.

Sending a child to a high quality pre-school is beneficial for a child's development. Most parents expect the pre school environment to provide opportunities for cognitive stimulation, social interaction and physical activity. Television is a poor substitute for all of these.

Unfortunately, for many children the potential benefits of pre-school is being displaced by passive TV watching. Knowingly or unknowingly children are forced to depend on technology. Parents and day care centers should know how many total hours of screen time should a child spend and what programs should constitute a child's media diet.
