Jillan Fox and Keeran Turtle

By Staff

Jillan fox and Keeran turtle were best friends. Jillan's cave was next to a big pond and it was in the pond Keeran lived with his wife and kids.

There friendship grew to the extend that if at all Jillan gets something to eat he always kept the half for Keeran and Keeran could never imagine eating without sharing with Jillan. Thus both the friends were living happily.

One day the friends came to know about a boat race happening in the neighboring river. Excited to watch the thrilling race, both of them went the river early in the morning.

The race was excellent and both Jillan and Keeran liked it very much. When the race was over both of them started walking towards their homes. After a while, tired and hungry, both of them sat under a tree to refresh for a bit.

Suddenly, they sprang up on feet hearing a trembling voice. They looked around. What they could see was a tiger jumping out of the nearby bamboo flock.

Both the friends were deadly afraid. They thought that that was the end of their life. Jillan told to Keeran "Run fast friend, otherwise the tiger will eat us."

Both of them ran fast but the tiger was faster than them. Jillan jumped into a hole on a tree. But Keeran could not climb the tree.

By that time tiger reached at him. But Keeran had already put his head inside the shell. Tiger started biting his shell up and down. But it helped only to break his teeth.

That time Jillan came out of the hole and told to tiger with a smile. "Mr. Tiger, no use biting on the hard shell. If you want to eat him, there is only one way. Take him to the pond and put him in the water for a while. After a while the shell will become softer and you can break it easily.

Tiger liked Jillan's advise very much. Immediately he took Keeran to the pond. Jillan followed hem.

Tiger put him in the water and withing seconds Keeran went underwater where he stayed.

Tiger waited on he shore till evening and he understood the treachery of Jillan fox. Regretting on his stupidity he walked across the forest highway in search of a less intelligent prey.
