Failure: The Stepping Stone To Success!

By Super

"As a child I detested the term results than exams", recalls Samantha in her school alumni meet. “ I still remember the day when my final board results were announced, I flunked in one subject. I cried whole night beneath the dark blanket, feeling the world had declared my end..... and my life from now is going to be only misery. But my life did take a drastic turn, today I lead a successful life. However if my parents hadn't, lent their comforting arms, I would still be in that same phase" let Failure is a part of life and not the end of life, however often we find parents holding a smitten rod to direct the path to success, only to see their kids still finding hard to climb the hollow pitfall. Here are some guidelines to help your child walk on the track of success, with true life stories.

Trace the right reason
A child fails in an examination due to certain weakness, it may be his weakness to grasp the subject, or the teachers' lack of knowledge to teach the children or family circumstances or the child's building distraction in the house. If the parents can trace the right reason, then you have just started paving his/her path to success.

Bid good bye to distractions
If your child's addiction to Internet gaming, TV, or any sports is hindering his academics, then keep all of them at bay. Prepare a time table sitting together, set aside an hour for his addiction. Make sure the child follows it. If he insist for an extra hour of play then direct him, that the next day's play hour will be erased from the daily time table. Sit with your child during study hours, play hours and watch TV with them.

Prepare a mock questionnaire at home, to prepare your kids for exam. This will help them to relive the stress and anxiety of exam. While correcting his answer sheet correct it together, marking the negative ideas and the positive points too. Tell him why he lost a mark and why he gained too.

Teachers and children relationship
There are instances where the children hate their teachers to such an extent that, even a hard smack on the back will make them stand erect with no sign of sorrowfulness. One of my cousin's child, wrote. “I Don't Know' in bold letters for all the questions asked in final exam, since the teacher beat him red and blue in front of the entire school for not answering a question. My cousin changed the child to a new school and today he scores the highest marks in the class for the same subject. On the other hand some children are scared of their teachers, to such an extent that they forget all that they learnt at their very sight.

So, it is very important to research the role played by the teachers in your child's failure. If, the child finds it difficult to understand a particular teachers teachings, then send him for extra tuition classes nearby. Build the confidence in him/her to achieve the unachievable tasks in the world.
