Successful Interaction With Your Child's Teachers

No parent will forget the day on which their children went to school for the first time. Every parent has a dream about their child's bright future, while sending them to school. However most of the parents ignore the fact that regular interaction with your child's teachers is also important in their academic excellence. It is the parent teacher relationship that the most important contributing factor to a child"s success at school. Education is not just spoon feeding your children with all the possible general knowledge and skills but, it is knowing your children and helping them to develop their personality to become successful human beings. The essence of education is comprised in sharing responsibility between children, parents and teachers, to promote your child"s general wellbeing and to provide a basis for success.
Researches says that parental involvement in education may benefit in far reaching results. A good relationship between the parent, teacher and student allows all three parties to have a shared understanding of learning goals, the curriculum and ways they can work together to achieve the best for the student. It is most important for each parent to know their children's teachers personally and discuss about your child's education regularly. The parent teacher communication should not be an occasion to reveal parents' dreams and beliefs about a child or for teachers, to open the bundle of complaints about a student. Rather mutual discussion about the drawbacks and ways to improve skills or learning of the child should take place in parent teacher interaction.
When you discuss about your child to their teachers, always be patient and open enough to listen to the teacher. View points can differ as a parent always see their children through an affectionate eye while a teacher may have an analysing view. Accept, instead arguing if, negative comments are there about your child, and discuss the ways to lead your child to success. Teacher should know the family atmosphere that each student is brought up. It will help them to adapt a more psychologically customised approach to each student. The difference in a caring and attentive parent can make in a child's life and academic career is magnificent.
It is the duty of a teacher, to let the parents know how their child is doing at school. This actually helps parents to be more responsive to those areas where their child needs work. Making it personal will help parent teacher interaction more effective than mere formal communication.
It is clear that parents and teachers have the same end goal in mind when it comes to their students. Communicating and sharing about a child will help parents to become better parents and teachers to become successful teachers. Remember always; parent teacher communication should be focused on the best interests of the child.
When talking with your children's teachers you must give insights into their child's character, strengths, interests, needs and areas of concern. This information may be helpful for a teacher to understand students better and help them to improve their life. Before making an interaction with teachers it is always preferable to discuss with your child about their views about teachers, favourite teacher etc... Try to know how your child feels about his /her school.
Effective parent teacher communication include asking questions mutually. Parent can ask about the curriculum, What is the class going to cover this year, how can they help and what can be done at home to help children's education etc.. T the same time teacher can can ask about their students learning habits, personal interests, areas of struggle etc.. Be regular in your relationship with your children's teacher since it will help you to have a regular analysis of your child's academic growth. The ultimate goal of parent teacher communication is to know your child from all perspective and help them to improve in all realms of life. Know your child as a human being who has needs, hopes, interests and dreams. Help them to attain their goals and ambitions. Successful parent teacher interaction must help both parents and teachers to know who the child is, to lend a helping hand in their success.
