However, though some of these methods are genuinely safe, there are few which have an adverse effect on the woman's health. Regular use of these tricky ways can also lead to miscarriages in the future and a slight chance of infertility too.

Therefore, experts state that when using these methods to prevent pregnancy, women should be careful and think twice before going ahead. Here are a few ways women prevent pregnancy, take a look:
Withdrawal Method: A new study, which surveyed 3,276 American women, found that one-third of individuals who were at risk for unwanted pregnancy had used the pulling out method. This method of preventing pregnancy is considered to be one of the best and safest so far.

Female Condoms: Not many are familiar with female condoms. Instead of the man taking the trouble to wear on the protection, women can take the first step. Female condoms are safe to use and are easily available at chemists too. One of the best benefits of the female condom in comparison to the male version is that women can take more responsibility in preventing an unwanted pregnancy. The female condoms can be inserted up to eight hours before intercourse which gives a women time to prepare for intercourse in advance.

Oral Contraceptive: Oral contraceptives are a woman's best friend in order to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. However, contraceptives have their fair share of effects where a woman undergoes severe headaches, inter menstrual spotting, nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, weight gain, mood changes, missed periods, decreased libido, vaginal discharge and more.

Lubes Prevent Pregnancy Too: Did you also know by using water-based lubricants, you can prevent pregnancy. The lubricants contain chemicals which have the ability to kill the sperm immediately after the man ejaculates. This method is also another way, a woman can adopt to prevent pregnancy.

That Safe Period: During an average cycle, there are around 6 days when a woman can conceive. By identifying and using protection (or abstaining) from intercourse on these days, you can effectively avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

An IUD: IUD must be inserted within 5 days of unprotected intercourse. The IUD can stay for 5 to 10 years. This method is widely used by women as it is safe and convenient for the woman.
