Reasons For Low Testosterone In Men
Testosterone is the male hormone responsible for the primary and secondary sexual features of a man. It is present in a small amount in women as well. The normal level of testosterone in a man is between 300 and 1200 nano grams per decilitre. When the level falls below this range, the man is said to be suffering from hypogonadism or low testosterone.
There are two types of hypogonadism in men, one being primary hypogonadism. This is when there is a problem in the testicles leading to low testosterone. The other is secondary hypogonadism that indicates a problem in the part of the brain that is responsible for signalling the production of testosterone.
DOES SLEEP LOSS AFFECT FERTILITY?
Low testosterone leads to many problems like infertility in men, low sex drive, depression, fluctuating blood sugar levels and fatigue. Until recently, people were unaware that the root of many of their problems lies in low testosterone levels. There are many treatments available to counter this problem and should not cause unnecessary worries in you.

Here we may discuss the causes of low testosterone and infertility in men:
The age factor: When it comes to low testosterone causes and infertility in men, age is a major factor. After the age of 30, production of testosterone decreases in men leading to low testosterone levels and hypogonadism.
Cancer treatments: If a man has undergone cancer treatment involving chemotherapy, it is another among low testosterone causes leading to infertility in men. But, testosterone levels will increase after some time.
Obesity: This is another reason for infertility in men due to low testosterone levels. Being obese can be linked to low testosterone causes. Obese people are also prone to other chronic illnesses like diabetes and heart diseases.
Pituitary gland diseases: The pituitary gland is responsible for producing testosterone. Any diseases to this gland like inflammation or tumour can be considered as low testosterone causes.
Unhealthy hypothalamus: The hypothalamus is the part of the brain that signals the pituitary gland to produce testosterone. Diseases like tuberculosis and sarcoidosis that affect hypothalamus can be low testosterone causes.
Injured testicles: The risk of physical injury to testicles is high because of its location. Injured testicles will affect the production of the male hormone and can be one among the low testosterone causes.
The extra X: Men usually have one X and one Y chromosome. Chromosomes contain genetic material and if there is more than one X chromosome, it can affect the proper development of testicles and in turn be among low testosterone causes.
Mumps infection: Sometimes, a mumps infection can affect the testicles in addition to the salivary gland. If you have contracted this disease in childhood or adulthood, it can be among low testosterone causes.
Undescended testicles: As a growing foetus, the testicles develops inside the abdomen of a male body and later descends into the scrotum. Sometimes, this does not happen properly and if not corrected it can be one among the low testosterone causes.
Hemochromatosis: This is the condition when there is excess iron in the blood. This can cause damage to the testicles and affect the pituitary gland function. This in turn can be among low testosterone causes.
