Is Pregnancy After Menopause Possible?
Women who marry late worry whether they can get pregnant. These women feel that their chances of getting pregnancy are slim after menopause. People have this notion that menopause is the end of the reproductive years and the chances are nil for late pregnancy.
The reason for this assumption is that there are no eggs present in the ovaries to release, fertilise and grow into a baby. However, getting pregnant after menopause or late pregnancy is possible with latest technology.

Although chances of conception after menopause is scarce, pregnancy after menopause comes with a lot of complications. Even though the health of the mother and baby are at risk during late pregnancy, there is a chance for women to conceive even after reaching her menopausal years. The child bearing ability for women may be slim but it is never impossible.
Let’s look into some of the reasons why pregnancy after menopause isn’t smooth.
Menstruation
Pregnancy
is
possible
in
the
menopausal
years
only
in
the
condition
when
the
menstruation
is
still
active
in
women.
When
menstruation
is
still
on,
it
means
that
ovulation
can
still
take
place.
Pregnancy
is
possible
when
the
egg
gets
easily
released
by
the
ovary
to
get
fertilised.
However,
pregnancy
isn’t
a
smooth
ride
after
menopause.
But
remember
that
when
menstruation
stops,
pregnancy
or
conception
can
never
happen.
Hormone
levels
dip
down
The
production
of
essential
sex
hormones
and
oestrogens
are
much
needed
for
the
body’s
ability
to
conceive.
However,
it
becomes
difficult
during
menopause.
When
some
of
the
hormone
levels
dip
down,
then
your
body
becomes
incapable
to
conceive
after
menopause
as
it
ceases
to
function
smoothly.
On
the
other
hand,
women
tend
to
experience
various
unpleasant
side
effects
during
menopause
and
this
does
curb
the
chances
to
have
children.
Health
risks
for
mother
and
child
Health
is
at
risk
for
both
mother
and
baby
when
pregnancy
happens
after
menopause.
It
is
most
likely
possible
for
serious
complications
and
illnesses
during
this
stage.
Remember
baby
born
in
late
pregnancy
can
have
congenital
birth
defects.
Planning pregnancy can turn out to be pointless as it is difficult to fix the ovulation date as the menstruation cycle can be quite erratic.
Don’t
trust
Herbal
medicines
It
is
common
knowledge
that
ovaries
work
only
as
per
the
age.
The
ovaries
can
produce
eggs
when
there
is
a
leeway
to
get
pregnant.
During
menstrual
cycle,
your
body
tends
to
release
two
eggs
before
you
start
your
periods.
However,
when
the
body
stops
ovulating,
eggs
are
no
longer
released
for
fertilisation
and
this
makes
it
futile
for
pregnancy
to
happen
after
menopause.
Remember don’t blindly believe that herbal products available in the market can work wonders to make the impossible possible for you. Make sure not to drug yourself for getting your menstruation as this can never fulfill your dreams to get pregnant after menopause.
