How To Make Your Own Baby Carrier? How Soon Can You Begin Using A Baby Sling?
The use of baby carriers and baby slings is extremely helpful when taking your baby along with you.
A baby carrier allows you to keep your baby safe and secure while keeping your hands free for other tasks. While keeping your baby in your arms, you can multitask, run after your older child, wear your baby during errands, and even put your baby to sleep with a baby carrier [1].

What Are The Benefits Of Using A Baby Carrier?
It is practical to use an infant carrier for various reasons. By wearing an infant carrier, you can always be with your baby, whether you are going out to meet your friends or working in your kitchen, or doing other household chores. You can always monitor your baby with the help of an infant carrier.
Furthermore, physical closeness with your baby during the early months after birth will strengthen the bond between you and them [2].
The option of buying a baby carrier is always available, but you can also make one yourself.
What Do You Need To Make A Baby Carrier?
The only thing you need is a long piece of fabric in order to make your own baby sling. You should use a fabric that is breathable and doesn't stretch or pull too much. The top sheet from your bed is the ideal size and texture in case you need to move quickly. You may also use a tablecloth or a large towel [3].

How To Make Your Own Baby Carrier?
Here are the steps on how you can make a baby carrier at home:
- Start by folding your sheet in half lengthwise. You want the sheet to be long and narrow. Place the folded sheet over your dominant (you're more likely to use this hand/shoulder) shoulder.
- Make sure that the fold opens toward the outside of your body.
- Drape the sheet over your back and place the front end at waist level.
- The sheet should be pulled in front of you at your waist.
- Ensure that the material draped around your lower back is taut against your back by pulling it towards the front and pinching it against your body with the elbow of your non-dominant hand (your 'less preferred' hand).
- Put the long end of the sheet under your arm and drape the shorter end over your shoulder to tie the knot.
- In order to do this, the long end should be pulled under the short end and pulled up through it.
- Make sure the knot reaches a comfortable level of tension at your chest by pulling it tightly.
- Using your dominant side, place the long end of the sheet under the short end, forming an "X" with the ends.
- Complete the slip knot by bringing the long end up and through.
- If you hold out the end of the sheet on your dominant side, you will be able to adjust the tension on the side that passes under your other arm.
- In order to prevent the knot of the sheet from falling on your back or above your shoulder, ensure that it sits slightly in front of your shoulder. The fabric of the sheet at your chest will now form a pouch.
How Soon Can You Begin Using A Baby Carrier?
It is possible for you to carry your baby in a baby carrier even on the day of his birth, but some parents prefer to wait until the baby reaches the age of 6 months before using a baby carrier. In order to use a baby carrier for your baby effectively, you will need to be aware of a number of requirements, including neck support and weight requirements [4][5].
How To Use A Baby Carrier With Your Infant?
There are several things that one should consider before using a baby carrier. Listed below is a list of things to keep in mind.

- Make sure that your baby is comfortable and that no fabric, clothing, or part of the carrier is covering his face. At all times, you should be able to see his face clearly.
- Remember that babies are sensitive to temperature as well. Don't overdress your baby while carrying him around in a baby carrier as he will also feel your body heat.
- As a rule of thumb, you should always carry your baby upright and close to your body in order to ensure that the baby has free air passage.
- If you use a baby carrier, you should make sure that the buckles or locks are securely fastened to ensure the safety of their delicate neck and back.
- Baby carriers should not be used during sports activities such as cycling, running, skiing, or jogging.
