Are You Giving Nutritious Food To Baby?

A healthy and nutritious food supply to your baby should start after 5-6 months. Introduce you baby to solid foods which basically comprises of rice cereal mixed with breast milk or formula in the beginning. Before giving solid baby food, check if the baby is able to sit up, turn the head away and make chewing motions. And, they should be over the "extrusion reflex" which makes them spit out anything but liquid.

Even after you give solid nutritious baby food you will see that the baby don't like to eat a lot of solid foods right away. So think of solids as an addition to your baby's diet and don't leave the milk supply. Solid food is not a replacement for breast milk or formula. Never change the baby's diet immediately. Start with patience. There can be times when the baby will only like to have breast milk and not food. Breastfeeding should not be left so early for a healthy baby.

To get your baby used to the new food and taste, give rice or barley cereal with breast milk or formula. Prefer iron-fortified infant cereal for the proper nutritious food supply of the baby. The baby will take time to get used to solid foods so don't feed excess food to your baby instantly. Observe the hunger and then decide the amount.

Fruits and vegetables should be gradually included in the food. Opt for boiled or steamed food as it can be digested easily. Vegetables soup is a nutritious food supply for baby. Take out the seeds and hard skin before feeding the baby.

Don't give cow's milk before the baby crosses one year age as the digestion can be difficult. It is best to give honey after the baby's one year age is crossed as it has botulism risk on the immune system

Follow these tips before feeding nutritious food to your baby. Don't over feed the baby and keep them active and healthy.
