So when baby begins to crawl a new phase starts in its life; that of development, growth and unfortunately illnesses and injuries too. You don't need baby care tips to know that the you have to maintain basic hygiene and safety in your house for your little one. But then once the baby is crawling the set up of your house and its hygiene needs will change again.

Here are a few parenting tips to help you when your baby crawls.

1. Home Hygiene: Now your baby is taking the first steps towards growth. You have to be more careful about cleanliness. Till now your baby was stationary at one place but now he or she is free to move.

  • They will crawl on all fours on the floor, sofas, tables, kitchen slab and just every imaginable place.
  • They will put those same has in their mouth and then fall sick.
  • You have clean the floors at least twice a day with an anti-germs solution.
  • If you have floor carpet then remove it because carpets cannot be cleans as thoroughly or as frequently as floors.
  • Also make sure that nobody walks into your home with dirty shoes and socks.

2. Injuries: With the baby crawling comes the risks of accidents. They are so excited about being able to move that they throw caution to the winds.

  • Keep all sharp objects out of reach. Even tiny things like marbles that they can put in their mouth or inhale have to be kept away.
  • Plaster all the sharp edges of furniture with cotton wool. If your baby is moving it will also try to stand up.
  • If your house has stairs you have to be doubly vigilant. It is not possible to keep an eye on the baby 24 hours of the day so lock the entrance near the stairs. Remember stairs are very dangerous because they attract babies with their interesting structure and could lead to potentially fatal accidents.
  • When the baby is sleeping on the bed or crib you need to put at least 4 pillows around them to make sure they don't roll over in sleep.

3. Infant Hygiene: Apart from the hygiene of your house you also need to take care of your baby's hygiene.

  • Their knees and palms will be rolling in dust and god knows what.
  • You need to give them an antiseptic bath at least twice a day.
  • When baby crawls the constant friction may darken their knee joint skin. Don't worry too much as it will be fine once they start walking.
