History:

The history of Porsche automobile trails back to 1900, when Dr. Ferdinand Porsche introduced his first design Lohner-Porsche. This was built in his first job in the automotive field with Jacob Lohner. But, this Austrian automotive engineer founded Porsche engineering office only in the year 1931 in Stuttgart. The first sports car bearing the name of the brand hit the roads after 17 years (356 roadster), with the model based on Volkswagen parts.

The first Porsche cars used many Volkswagen components, since then they have maintained close relationships. The two companies teamed up in 1969 to make the VW-Porsche914, 914-6, Porsche 912E and Porsche 924. The 2002 model Porsche Cayenne shares its entire framework with VW Touareg.

The company had a transition in its legal form from limited partnership to private limited company, in 1972, as Ferry Porsche and his sister Louise Piech felt that their succeding generation would not team up well. This led to a drastic change in adminitration. The executive board were from outside the Porsche family, but the supervisory board mainly consisted of family members. Only in the late 2005 extended Porsche and Piech families controlled all of Porsche AG's voting shares.

After some success in motor racing the company launched most renowned and outstanding brand, which still excels in the market, Porsche 911, an air-cooled rear- engined sports car, with a 6-cylinder boxer engine. Most of the winning cars in the cars race are based on Porsche 911 and its technologies.

Porsche has also maintained good memorandum with Toyota. Porsche stretches forth its empire with Toyota for learning experience of their hybrid technologies. The Present news says that Toyota is assisting Porsche in making Hybrid Cayenne SUV.
