Stuck In A Jaw-Dropping Situation : How A Couple’s Prank Led To A Medical Emergency
We've all done something a little silly for the sake of a good laugh (or a viral video), but sometimes, things don't go as planned. One couple in Jilin, China, learned this the hard way when a social media stunt ended with a trip to the emergency room. And soon enough what started as a harmless experiment quickly turned into a bizarre medical emergency.

How Did This Happen?
The couple's goal was simple: to test whether the woman's hand could fit inside the man's mouth and capture the moment for social media. However, once her hand was inside, his jaw muscles suddenly seized up, trapping her in an unexpected predicament. The man couldn't release her, and she couldn't pull away, leaving them no choice but to seek medical help.
What Was The Medical Staff's Reaction?
When the couple arrived at the hospital, doctors were initially stunned by the unusual sight. The woman described how her boyfriend's face turned red as he struggled, unable to close his mouth, while saliva dripped uncontrollably down her arm. The situation was both alarming and, to outside observers, strangely comical. But for the couple, panic set in as they realized this was no laughing matter.
How Did The Doctors Solve The Problem?
Led by Dr. Zhang Mingyuan, the medical team quickly assessed the situation. Their priority was preventing further harm to both patients-yes, in this case, both were suffering. To keep the man calm and avoid potential choking, they played soothing music. Then, using a specialized device, they carefully pried his jaw open just enough to administer a muscle relaxant. After about 20 minutes of delicate maneuvering, they successfully freed the woman's hand without causing additional injury.
What Can We Learn From This?
Dr. Zhang later explained the risks of forcing a locked jaw open, warning that it could cause nerve damage or dislocation. While it may seem like a minor incident, this case highlights the importance of understanding human anatomy and the potential dangers of even the most innocent challenges. Social media stunts can be fun, but as this couple learned, they can also take an unexpected turn.

Think Before You Prank!
While this story has a happy ending (and an unforgettable lesson for the couple involved), it highlights the fact that even the most harmless pranks can lead to real trouble. So next time you're tempted to try something for the sake of a viral video, maybe ask yourself: "What's the worst that could happen?" Because, as this couple discovered, the answer might be stranger than you think!
