These heavyweight tear-jerker Sumo wrestlers attempt to make babies cry. It is an ancient Japanese festival that is celebrated to ward off evil spirits and it also is believed to bring in good health.

This article is all about the 'Crying Sumo' Festival that happened in Japan recently. It is celebrated in Japan with great pomp and show.
According to the reports, it is a 400-year-old Japanese tradition that is followed at the Nakizumo festival and it is believed to bring in good health to the infants.

It Is Celebrated With Infants…
More than 100 babies participate in this festival, in which the hulk-looking sumos try all possible ways to make the babies cry, by tickling them; and if they still do not cry, they scream at them.

The One Who Cries The First Is The Winner!
The baby who cries the first is said to be the winner of the match. A referee is appointed for the same and he decides on which baby cried the first!

The Rules Vary From Places Across The Country…
In certain places in Japan, it is believed that the baby who cries the first is the winner, the rule is different however in certain parts, as in a few places, it is believed that the baby who cries the first would be considered as the loser!

The Babies Are Made To Cry For A Reason
This festival is believed to bring in good health to the crying infants! Hence, they are shaken, wriggled and troubled in different ways, so that the kids cry.

If the babies fail to get scared, then the referee steps in and attempts to scare the young baby by wearing traditional scary masks or he makes faces and loud noises to get the baby to cry.
