These 8 most dangerous cities are listed in increasing order of crime incidence.

8. Belem, Brazil
Brazil is known for three things- three things that have defined the country perhaps from the time it became independent- Carnival, Football and Crime. Although the country has seen tremendous development over the past few decades and is still developing at a steady pace, the crime rate hasn't dropped. Belem in Brazil is amongst the most dangerous cities in the world.

7. Abuja, Nigeria
With Boko Haram Rebels wrecking havoc in Nigeria, the country is ravaged in a religious war wherein Islamic rebels are against the western influence on traditional culture. The crime rates have spiraled out of control with a few tens of people losing their lives every single day.

6. Caracas, Venezuela
Venezuela, a country long known for its unforgiving history with drug related violence, is one of the most dangerous cities to live in. For every 100,000 residents, a minimum of 120 homicides are recorded. Most homicides are due to high unemployment and crippling poverty.

5. Kabul, Afghanistan
Known to be the hub of Taliban and the trade center for opium and weapons, Kabul is one of the most dangerous cities to live in the world. It is the most dangerous city for women too. With women rights suppressed beyond imagination, there doesn't seem to be any respite for the people from the crippling events that remain unceasing.

4. Ciudad Juarez, Mexico
Mexico is there right at the top as regards the crime rate, with drug induced violence claiming tons of lives every single day. The border city is plagued with scores of problems including contract killings, rape, murder, gang violence, extortion and much more. This is definitely a place you shouldn't visit anytime in the next 10 years at least. Drug cartels rule the streets and murders are no news.

3. San Pedra Sula, Honduras
Honduras is the country that recorded the highest homicide rate in the world for two years in a row. Drugs and prostitution are a common phenomenon. The city is seen as a perfectly strategic location for drug trade, serving as a conduit for South America and North America. There is absolutely no law and order and people are literally killed like chickens.

2. Aleppo, Syria
Of late, looking at the number of lives that are being lost on a daily basis, Aleppo is second on the list of most dangerous cities in the world. Militias loyal to governments and the army are on one side while rebels are on the other. Violence, homicide, rape and murder have become all too common, causing incalculable suffering and devastation. At least 80-100 people have lost their lives everyday since the conflict first sprung up in late 2011.

1. Baghdad, Iraq
Baghdad in Iraq is number one on the list of most dangerous cities in the world. Although neighboring towns are more dangerous, the recent war between rival sects of Islam is taking a severe toll on the citizens. As of now, it sure does seem like the violence isn't going to stop. A little less than a hundred people have lost their lives every single day for the last 2 years. Seems like even God cannot seal the fate of this war torn country.
