Why Real Books Are Better Than Ebooks?

If you feel that real books can never be replaced by ebooks then you are probably an 80s child and still like old world things. This is because the facts are quite different. With the concept of reading online on tabs and even phones is making real books quite obsolete. Unlike real books, ebooks don't require paper so they are part of the 'Go Green' campaign.

Besides, ebooks are also much more cost effective because the cost of production and acquisition is almost nil. And yet, people still pour over old books in libraries, coffee shops and gardens! If we follow the trend, then we would have to say that ebooks will eventually replace real books. But our heart is not satisfied by all the advantages of electronic books.

So here are some points that proves, real books will always be better than ebooks.

Real Books

The Touch And Feel

A book is not just an object; it is almost like a living thing. When you pick a book from a store, you turn it around, check out the cover and read the synopsis at the back. You are basically interacting with the book. In the electronic medium, the words are cut and dry. There is no exchange of ideas.

Doesn't Hurt Your Eyes

Staring at a screen constantly and reading can be very straining for your eyes. We all have to look at an electronic screen at out workplace. At least when you are reading for pleasure your eyes need to be soothed.

More Durable

Ebooks don't have much shelf life. How many ebooks will you actually store in your online library. You will eventually clear off disk space by deleting them. But a good book will stay with you forever.

Inheritance

Books are more than hand-me-downs. There are memories associated with books. If your grandfather passed down his book collection to you, you would actually treat it like your inheritance. That emotional quotient is missing in electronic books.

Ebooks Can't Be Signed

The pleasure and pride that you get by getting your book signed by your favourite author is immense. No amount of 'Go Green' slogans can replace that pleasure.

The debate between real books and ebooks can rage on forever. Its like trying to decide who came first, the chicken or egg!
