10 Fears Of Old Age
In our journey of life we are destined to grow old as we survive the road to it. Most of us fear old age as we grow up due to various factors ranging from ageing of appearance to deteriorating of physical ability and health. As growing old is an inevitable part of our life, accepting it with grace makes for a happier life. Grieving people you know becomes part of your old age.
Some of the fears of old age are deep rooted in our society due to mistreating of aged people by their kin's, fear of losing independence physically and financially as we age. It is important to plan your retirement and old age financially in advance. Leading a health lifestyle during prime of your life also helps maintain a healthy life during your old age.

Maintaining a healthy relationship with your children helps you have a helping hand during your old age as they tend to return the favour when in need. This fear of loneliness or isolation is what people fear most in old age. One of the most feared aspect of old age is out living the partner you loved and lived your life with. Let us take a look at some of the fears of old age.
1.
Physical
ability
As
you
grow
old,
you
are
unable
to
do
most
of
the
physical
things
you
used
to
when
young.
This
makes
you
frustrated
and
tied
down
at
times.
Even
a
long
morning
walk
becomes
a
dream
at
some
stage.
2.
Financial
freedom
You
tend
to
neglect
a
proper
financial
planning
that
is
required
to
secure
your
old
age
financially.
A
proper
retirement
benefit
and
income
savings
are
essential
to
make
your
old
age
a
happy
and
stress
free
life.
3.
Grief
As
you
grow
older
you
tend
to
grieve
the
loss
of
a
lot
of
people
whom
you
have
known
as
you
have
grown
old
with
them
and
people
whom
you
loved.
This
sense
of
loss
makes
you
fear
loneliness.
4.
Outlive
The
most
dreadful
thought
as
you
grow
old
is
to
outlive
your
loved
partner
with
whom
you
would
have
spent
a
large
chunk
of
your
adult
life
with.
This
makes
you
feel
losing
a
part
of
yourself
resulting
in
a
lot
of
loneliness
and
depression
in
old
age.
5.
Health
As
you
grow
up,
you
tend
to
neglect
your
health
due
to
laziness
or
a
busy
life
running
after
wealth.
This
may
affect
your
life
during
old
age
resulting
in
many
health
related
issues
that
affect
most
of
the
aged
people.
6.
Children
Raising
a
child
with
love,
care
and
values
is
very
important
as
these
will
make
them
give
something
back
during
your
old
age.
A
helping
hand
or
a
comforting
shoulder
is
more
valued
as
you
age.
7.
Loss
of
youth
Some
of
us
are
highly
mindful
of
our
physical
appearance.
As
we
age,
the
youthful
appearance
tends
to
fade
and
leave
signs
of
ageing
such
as
wrinkles
and
spots.
8.
Retirement
Some
of
us
are
too
much
into
working
and
worship
our
work
to
an
extent
of
obsession
which
makes
us
fear
retirement
that
comes
with
old
age,
and
emptiness
that
follows.
9.
Loss
of
memory
As
we
grow
old,
our
brain
cells
start
to
decay
and
die
resulting
in
lots
of
memories
being
erased.
Loss
of
such
wonderful
memories
that
have
been
part
of
us
over
the
years
brings
distress.
10.
Death
Even
though
death
is
an
inevitable
part
of
life
and
its
journey,
as
you
grow
old
the
thought
of
dying
brings
about
a
fear
of
unknown.
Knowing
death
is
around
the
corner
during
old
age
is
a
fearful
thought
many
fail
to
handle
well.
