Here below are some of the royal baby traditions which will be followed by the new parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William. The royal baby who is not even a day old has his own Wikipedia page called "Child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge".

- In a modern twist, this is the first British royal birth to be announced by palace officials via Twitter. However, holding by tradition, the announcement of the royal baby was written on an official Buckingham Palace letterhead. The letterhead was driven to the palace, placed on the same easel which was used to announce the birth of Prince William's 31 years ago.
- Another royal baby tradition which will be followed by the new parents is that of gun salutes which will welcome the baby to the world, in two locations at London. It is said that the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery will be in control of Green Park where 41 rounds, and 62 rounds will be organized by the Honorable Artillery at the Tower of London.
- Though the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke had magnificent wedding, the christening of the royal baby will probably be a private affair. According to tradition the Duchess of Cambridge's baby will most likely be christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace. This was the same location where the royal baby's father too was christened. The royal baby is expected to wear a replica gown which was first worn by Queen Victoria's eldest daughter in 1841, according to royal traditions. Royal traditions of royal baptisms are usually held behind closed doors when the baby is just a few months old. This ceremony will be attended only by family, godparents and close friends.
- According to royal traditions, it is said at the time of delivery the father needs to be in the labour room with the expectant mother. The Duke Prince William had stated earlier that he fully intends to be with Kate when she gives birth and thus he was.
- It is believed that the royals do not require a surname. The correct title when referring to the new royal baby will be His Royal Highness Prince (name) of Cambridge. Prince William, the heir of Charles, the Prince of Wales is known as Flight Lt. Wales when on military duty.
- According to royal traditions, royal babies have five to six godparents. However, in the case of the Duke of Cambridge, William, the number was eight! However, when it comes to the Duchess of Cambridge baby, sources reveal that the likely godparents will be Aunt Pippa and Uncle Harry. Although, we are uncertain of other choices, Kate's brother, James Middleton, could be godfather and maybe Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie could play the role of the godmother.
- Prince William and Kate Middleton have not made any public announcements about hiring a nanny to help them bring up the royal baby. But there is a lot of speculations that the couple will not be following the royal traditions of hiring a brigade of nanny as they will be modern parents. Some have also speculated that the royal couple will seek help from Kate's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton in helping Kate with the royal baby.
Therefore, here are some of the royal traditions which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be religiously following when it comes to the royal baby, the Prince of Cambridge.
