Different Types Of Mangoes In India
We all wait for the summers to come. It is not just for the craze to hit the beach, or dip into the swimming pool, but also to enjoy the fruit of the season, Mangoes! Mangoes are entitled as the King of all fruits. The juicy fruit can be consumed raw or made into delicious smoothies. There are numerous mango recipes that can be prepared using this seasonal fruit.
When the mangoes are available in the market, you tend to get confused. This is common among people who are not known with the different varieties of mangoes. There are different varieties or rather types of mangoes that are available in the market.
If you are not aware of the types of mangoes, then let me tell you that there are more than 10 types of mangoes that are grown worldwide. If we come to India, Alphonso, Badami, Langada, Mallika, Dussehri, Baiganpalli and many other varieties are available. As it is the season of mangoes, you can keep a track of the different varieties of mangoes and enjoy the various flavours and taste of the King of fruits.
10 common types of mangoes in India:

Alphonso
This expensive variety of mango is named after Afonso de Albuquerque and is also known as Aphoos or Hapoos.

Badami
This type of Indian mango tastes sweet and is pulpy. It can be consumed raw or be used for making mango shakes.

Baiganpalli
Commonly known as Baneshan in Hindi, this variety of mango comes straight from Andhra Pradesh.

Dussehri
This type of mango turns yellow when ripe and has a thin skin. It tastes sweet and the stones are really small.

Kesar
It is one of the most popular variety of mangoes which is consumed raw or used for preparing aamrus. Kesari mangoes come from Ahmedabad and are also known as Gujarat Kesar mangoes.

Malgova
They are tangy so must not be consumed raw. You can make pickles and mango shakes using this type of mango.

Mallika
This mango is a native to India and is a hybrid of Neelum and Dussehri.

Raspuri
They are oval in shape and reddish yellow in colour. It is very popular in Southern states of India.

Sindura
The deep red and green skinned mango is sweet and pulpy from inside.
