Kingfisher 'Run in Costume', A Huge Success In Bengaluru

Imbibing the spirit of World Environment Day, participants were seen spreading the green message and supporting causes right from anti-corruption to equal education rights for children, equal rights to transgenders & more. A special category, the 'Kingfisher Green Crusaders' awarded the characters 'Bonsai Saviour' and 'Abused Earth' for their well-thought out and meaningful environmental costumes.
In the guise of an expecting mother fighting against female foeticide, a resourceful young lady won RS 30,000 as the 'Kingfisher Sakkath Bangalorean'. A group of children from a charitable institution crusading for equal employment opportunities for disabled individuals, could not contain their excitement and delight when they won the 'Kingfisher Bombaat Brigade' cash price of Rs. 75,000. Adding a fun twist to the proceedings was a large group dressed up as 'Namma Metro' tooting vuvuzelas and urging the public to save on petrol.
The participants were rewarded by the stunning Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar girl, Angela Jonsson and designer Raj Shroff who judged the "Kingfisher Run-in-Costume" for the individual and group prizes
Speaking about Kingfisher's association, Samar Singh Sheikhawat, Senior VP Marketing, United Breweries Ltd. said, "Our "Run in Costume" reflects the spirit of the brand Kingfisher. We are over-whelmed with the response received. Each year the number of participants only seems to increase, thus re-instating the popularity of the concept. We are delighted to infuse the marathon with fun and Good Times."
The 'Kingfisher Run-in-Costume' is part of the 'Majja Run' - a 5.7 km run which takes place alongside the actual 10K Marathon. The 'Kingfisher Run-in-Costume' has in the past resulted in a big street party with enthusiastic participants in hundreds showcasing innovative and crazy costumes.
