Japanese watchmaker, Citizen has designed a new wrist watch that can now receive mobile phone text messages.

The i:VIRT M wristwatch uses Bluetooth to synchronise with mobile phones and receives text messages.

The watch glows and vibrates when a user receives a text on his/her mobile.

An owner can read the subject line of the message and up to 70 characters of the text on the watch.

To enable easy reading of messages the watch magnifies letters 1.2 times to its original size.

These watches are good for checking important messages in a casual way, even in conferences or on crowded trains, where users may feel uneasy taking out their mobile phones.

The i:VIRT M watch is priced at 30,000 Yen (209 pounds).
