'Joy Of Giving Week' Celebrations
The secret of happiness lies in the joy of giving and sharing. This thought still holds a lot of meaning and to celebrate the thought we now have, the “Joy Of Giving Week". At a time when everyone is trying to blur the political boundaries this week, seems to be the best way of bringing people from across the length and breadth of India together.
Joy of Giving weeks, is a festival of giving. It was hosted by GiveIndia in 2009 and will be celebrated across India from 27th of September to the 3rd of October every year. This week initiates the sharing of money, time, skills or resources among Indians in India and abroad. The aim of this week is to make people live and celebrate like Indians alone and not as people belonging to different regions.
With the course of time prominent celebrities, Media Houses and schools have joined hands with GiveIndia for the cause. The concept of the Joy Of Giving Week, was in initiated in the year 2006 by CEO of GiveIndia, CRY and Helpage India. It was then decided to be a day called, the National Giving Day. Later Gupta of Goonj, Kiran Sethi or Riverside School, Rashmi Bansal of JAM Magazine, Venkat Krishnan of GiveIndia and 30 volunteers from across the country got involved and decided on ectending the celebration to a week. Originally names, "India Giving Week" was later named "Joy Of Giving Week".
'Joy Of Giving Week 2010', has graduated to another step of success, with the joining of Grow VC India. This is a India's first ever crowd-funding and integration platform which assists star-ups and entrepreneurs.
On the occasion of Joy Of Giving Week 2010, Grow VC India, has announced a week long initiative which would enable the budding entrepreneurs and enthusiast businessmen to partake their dream with just RS 250/- per month, which otherwise would have cost them Rs 1000/- per month for subscription.
The Make A Wish Foundation too on the occasion of Joy Of Giving Week 2010, is going beyond monetary donations and asking people to spend time and meet dreams of those who need it the most. All it takes is three hours of a person, in which he takes take care of a child. Fulfillment of a wish which the can get a smile on the child's face, is all the Make A Wish foundation aiming at.
