For the first time ever in the country, a massive platform is being created for researchers to come together and give India the much-needed R&D momentum. Titled “Knowledge Utsav", the platform will witness the largest ever presentation of over 400 research papers across 44 disciplines and more than 100 inspiration talks. The conference is organized by EDU.IN in association with Tumkur University and Jain Research Foundation (JGi).

Knowledge Utsav will be held on August 28, 2010, Saturday at the Jain University, Global Campus, Kanakapura Taluk, Bangalore Rural.

The conference will bring together the brightest minds in research and development in disciplines such as Information Technology, Engineering, Management, Humanities, Nanotechnology, Bio-technology, Robotics, Green Technology, Energy, Social Science. These minds will be from Premier Educational Institutes, Research Organizations and the Industry. They will ideate, inspire and interact with the delegates, in an effort to take R&D to the next level. Knowledge Utsav will connect individual researchers, scientists and research institutes to the industry and investors.

Dr. R. Chenraj Jain, Chief Mentor - EDU.IN & Chairman - Jain University said, “If innovations are not backed by capital investments, they will not translate into technology, products and wealth creation for the country. One of the main agendas of Knowledge Utsav is to bring together inventors and investors and negate the asymmetry which is one of the key reasons why researches are not going out from laboratory to add value to products."

“The Indian higher education system is on the verge of change, thanks to some of the new reforms introduced by the government to chalk out the roadmap for the 21st century. But still lots need to be done to successfully address local and global challenges and nurture future science leaders & scientists", said Dr. S.C. Sharma Vice-Chancellor - Tumkur University. “Our System needs to adopt Collaborative education, which is growing in importance across the globe, with an increased focus on innovation through R&D in order to advance towards a more 'knowledge-based' economy. Understanding these lacunae, EDU.IN has initiated several programmes in the field of education, research and training that would impact favourably the education system in the country in the near future."

According to Ms. Sudha Raju, Chairperson - EDU.IN, “Knowledge Utsav is just one of the several initiatives of EDU.IN that have been planned to steer the future of education in India. The programmes lined up include Knowledge Forums, Vice-Chancellors" Conclave, and publishing “Educator", a national magazine. EDU.IN will be engaging with all stake holders to make education relevant to the needs of the society."

“Knowledge Utsav was conceived with a vision to create a platform that nurtures creative thinking and provides opportunities to the researchers, scientists, government, and students to interact and exchange ideas on research and its future. Though India has immense talent, it is yet to comprehend its potential to be a global leader in research. We hope Knowledge Utsav will be a great platform in helping aspiring researchers and provide them the much needed visibility," added Ms. Sudha Raju.

Researchers, Faculties, Scholars, Corporates, R&D Organizations and Students interested to participate in Knowledge Utsav have to apply before August 9. Interested participants should fax their abstract to #080 4343 0175. Original research papers on recent developments are invited for oral, poster and Power point presentation in the conference.
