An advertisement campaign by Sixt, a car hire firm in France, has ridiculed on President, Nicolas Sarkozy's height. The ad has caused an uproar in the country.

The president is five feet five inches tall and the height difference between him and his wife, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy (who is 5'10'') has long been a sensitive issue in the country.

The posters by Sixt have urged customers to rent a small Citroen C3 hatchback, with the slogan, “Be like Madame Bruni, take a small French model."

Reacting to the issue, Jean-Philippe Doyen, President of Sixt said, “These advertisements are entitled to be funny and we need to inject a little fun into our business."

Last year budget airline Ryanair was forced to pay out 50,000 pounds for an advertisement showing the President and his wife smiling together with the caption next to the former Italian super model saying, “With Ryanair, my whole family can come to my wedding."
